Cupcakes, Minecraft, knitting and measuring up.

There's been quite a few things going on in the last month, the teacups, MommaL and me have been learning quite a few things!

Firstly, the teacups have been showing great interest in Minecraft! Teacups 1&3 have expressed interest in creating mods for the game and are also playing on a Home Ed server.

We currently have Minecraft for XBox360, PC and iPad, so they can pretty much play it everywhere!

There has been an interest in knitting as MommaL has been knitting her dress and some other things for our wedding, so teacups 2&5 have been interested. TC2 has knitted an Easter chick which looked great and TC5 is trying her best. I've also had a go too, and as much as I understand the basics I keep on making the most basic mistakes despite concentrating as much as I can...TC5 is knitting better than me already!

Last week, MommaL and TC2 baked a cake and they had great fun! They made a cherry chocolate sponge and we all enjoyed it very much, it went rather well with a cup of Earl Grey.
The next day, MommaL asked TC2 if she wanted to do some more baking and said she could do it herself...and it went really well! She made the cake batter herself and I put them in the oven.
Here's the baked cakes straight out of the oven:

Pretty awesome for a first attempt, right?
She then decorated all the cakes and we all had one, and they were really nice, again rather good washed down with a cup of Earl Grey!
Here's MommaL's cupcake:

Yummy!

Last night, TC 1&2 asked about growing, and TC1 was saying a person should be measured first thing in the morning as that is when you are at your full height then, and the shortest just before you go to bed...so we decided to do an experiment, where we marked TC 1&2's height before they went to bed on the living room door frame and then measure them when they get up in the morning. I asked them both how much they reckoned they would have grown and they thought between 1/4-1/2"
So...here's the result this morning:

The top result was TC 1 and the next one down was TC 2. They found they had both "grown" just under an inch I their sleep, and proved TC 1's statement to be correct.

So interesting things happening!

The Foot

As you may recall, Teacup2 cut her foot when she was on the beach, and it looked a little something like this:

She was hobbling for a few weeks, she was even using my spare cane for a while, bless her!

Well, she had her final check and dressing change a couple weeks ago, when it looked like this:

As you could see, it was healing nicely.

And to now...I'm happy to say that she is zipping around and having fun as if nothing had happened, which is awesome!

Thankfully, this ended well...but please, I implore of you, pick up your rubbish when you're at the beach.

Facepainting for Cancer Research

Recently, there has been something going on Facebook about ladies posting selfies without makeup for Cancer Research...and there have been men getting in on the action with them posting selfies wearing makeup, and it has worked quite well, raising awareness and money for the worthwhile. (£1Million in 24 hours!)

Here in the China Cabinet we have all been affected one way or another with cancer, MommaL decided it would be cool to do kind of the same thing as the men and facepaint the Teacups!

And now....we are going a step further...on April 7th we will be painting our faces for Cancer Research and we will be doing it every day for a week!  The faces will be different each day and we shall be going out and about doing whatever we need to like this.

Would you be kind enough to donate to our Just Giving page for us doing this?  If so then you can either go http://www.justgiving.com/FacePaintMadness or you could text FACE81 £? (? being however much you are generous enough to give us, £1 being minimum donation) to 70070.

Help us raise money for a good cause while being mad and having fun along the way.

Many Thanks
Marmite Mug, MommaL and the Teacup Humans.

Word recognition, craft and being invested...oh my!

Been a couple of interesting days, and some great things have happened.

Yesterday, Teacup 2 was learning word recognition with MommaL by listening to songs. They were listening to songs on the AppleTV and then reading the lyrics on the iPad and Teacup 2 was picking up words.

As well as the word recognition, Teacup 2 also learned to knit! She picked it up in an hour, when last time she tried to she just couldn't get the hang of it...what a difference a couple of years can make!

Today, Teacups 2, 3 and 4 were invested into their Beavers and Cubs troops. It was great to see them so happy and loving Beavers and Cubs. Teacup 1 will be invested into his Scout troop in a few weeks.

Adding to this the Teacups creating their own timetable for what they do and also what their next project will be it's been all good!

The "joys" of junk on the beach.

Me, MommaL and the Teacups went to Tynemouth beach on Monday as there was a home ed picnic...it was great, we all love the beach.

We were having a great time with the kids having a run about and looking at the freshwater stream in the sand and nattering with the other home edders when Teacup 2 exclaimed "Mummy, I've cut my foot!"

Not thinking it was anything in particular, we asked her to come over to us and then we had a look it was a bit sandy, and once we cleaned up the foot it started bleeding a lot and the cut looked quite deep and was about a couple of inches long, from the third toe to part of the ball of the foot so as a precaution I called a taxi and MommaL took her to the hospital while i had lunch with the other teacups and then we headed back home.

At the hospital, they had a look at Teacup 2's foot, which had stopped bleeding by then, so they cleaned it up and it looked like this:

The thing is we don't know what she cut her foot on, so there was nothing to show the hospital which was annoying. Thankfully, no stitches were required and she didn't require a tetanus.

So, if you decide to throw garbage on the beach, I have a suggestion...DON'T DO IT.

Hello there!

Hello there ladies and gentlemen!

I'm going to be kind of taking over the Educating Teacups blog...it's going to have all the awesomeness it had before, but it's just me sorting the blog with MommaL adding things now and then.

Ok, nothing else to see in this entry...move along and stay awesome!

Update

Sorry its been a while since my last post.  We have been doing things, but i have been busy and basically forgot to up date this blog.

SO what have we done.  well, the lap books kinda got forgotten about, but soon they will be restarted.

We have been doing art stuff and watching documentaries and one day last week I woke to find Curious Teacup snuggled beside me in bed, and as soon as i even cracked an eye, he was telling me things i had no idea about!
"Mummy, did you know the Snapping Turtle is the most meanest creature in the sea?"
"no, why is that?"
"Cos when it wants is breakfast or dinner it sits on the floor and looks like a stone and its tongue looks like a worm and the fish thinks its going to get its breakfast, but then the turtle SNAPS its mouth shut and the fish becomes breakfast"

He got that little bit of information from a show called Deadly 60 on CBBC.

The children also spent a week with Daddy L.   They had fun and Daddy L had found some books on Romans and Greeks etc and they watched Documentaries on Greek Myths and Legends.  He took them for a picnic too.

When they came home we started some Butterfly models out of cardboard.  They are not yet finished, but I want to make a bigger one and then some caterpillar models too.

Momma L is starting a fairly big Mixed Media project too, in the hopes that if the teacup humans see the big humans doing stuff and following through, finishing it off, they will follow suit and also get some inspiration from what Momma L makes.
I am also considering redoing the "Art Gallery" in the
dinning room idea, but with a difference.

Curious Teacup asked about cave paintings and Graffiti and asked me to buy him some spray paint so he can learn now to do graffiti.  I said no, but maybe we can use the iPads and look at it digitally and maybe get an airbrush system and use that instead.  He has had a go at designing his own tag and made some cave art on the iPad.

SO i thought maybe we could repaint the dinning room, have the kids make cave art, graffiti tags, and then pick an artist, like Picasso, Dali or Munch and ask the teacup humans to copy the piece of art, but give it a twist of their own.

Pink Teacup noticed how windy it was yesterday, came in the house grabbed a carrier bag, a ball of string and a giant pencil and made herself a kite.

It flew so well, it popped off the pencil and almost over the fence!.  I taped the string down for her.  While tying the string to the bad, Pink Teacup asked me "Mummy, can we maybe get some stuff and make Butterfly Kites?"  Just as i was saying to Marmite Mug "I wonder where i could get some silk and make butterfly kites"

The Teacup Humans are off to see Daddy L tonight till Thursday afternoon.  We have an art group workshop that day..and Momma L turns 32 year old.  Its going to be a good day.  Im hoping to either be gifted or buy some more art supplies.

I am really getting into art, sketching, drawing etc.  There is more i want to learn about, Watercolours, Silk painting, Modeling with mesh and other materials.   I have project ideas i want to explore too.

Here are a few of my smaller things i have made, just testing out new pencils.

Not brilliant, but i had fun doing them.

That's it for the update.  See you all soon
