Here I will be posting what we get up to on our Home Ed journey.
This is our family.
I am Momma L, Momma to 5 Teacup Humans.
I like Music, The Sims 3, SimCity, finding out new things, having fun and reading.
There there is Marmite Mug. Momma L's partner in crime and lover of all things Marmite. He is into Lego, Music, Batman, Tech, Graphic Novels, bad humor and Horror.
Daddy L does not live with us anymore, but he may feature here from time to time. The Teacups Humans get to see him very regularly. He is into watching football, gaming, reading and music.
Big Teacup is 10. He is into puzzles, doing experiments, reading books, Dr Who and asking a lot of questions. HE really likes inventing his own world and what lives there and how things work there. He wants to be a Scientist that studies planets.
Pink Teacup is 8. She is into running very fast, Hello Kitty, Bondi Vet and anything to do with ponies. She wants to be a Vet.
Curious Teacup is 7. He is into asking the oddest of questions, seeing how things work, TV, doing art, making a noise and getting messy.
Noisy Teacup is 5. She is into art, writting her name on everything, Hello Kitty, looking at books, running, and joining Curious Teacup in getting messy. I once asked her "what do you want to be when you grow up?" her answer? "The Boss" attagirl!
Mini Teacup is 3. Shes into everything, literally. I asked her "what do you want to be when you grow up?" her answer? "Bigger"
The Teacup Humans and I have been home educating for about 3 years (since Easter 2010) We spent the first few months De-schooling then tried some "Lesson time" which failed miserably, it didn't fit our family. So we decided to just chill and follow a more Unschooling philosophy.
Recentaly we have decided to try again at Project Based learning. We are going to do projects on certain topics and see what we can learn.
I have plans for 4 projects this year.
Our first topic this year is Life Cycles.
Our other projects are
- "The British Monarchy"
- "Weather Patterns and Us"
- "Vikings, Romans and Egyptians"
- English
- Art
- Typography
- Cookery
- Sewing
- Maths
- Museum visits
- Reading books
- Watching documentaries
- Library Visits
- Science
- Experiments
- Using the Internet
- and having FUN.
- we could also possibly have workshops at the local museum with other home ed families.
That's of now.
Off to have a fresh cuppa tea, and then gather the Teacup Humans and begin Brainstorming out Life Cycle project.
